Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Role Purpose**
Provide quick response manufacturing support triggered by Operations feedback as well as product quality data. Overall mission is to optimize the Safety, Product Selects and Equipment Utilization associated with the manufacturing of Optical Fiber. Identifies and supports process improvements. Uses judgment, experience and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations.
**Key Responsibilities**
• Function as process and equipment SMEs for the Fibermaking department with primary focus on the winding process steps
• Recommend and implement improvements to process/equipment and drive equipment robustness
• Identify chronic issues, recommend and implement corrective actions
• Provide inputs about equipment maintenance requirements & shortfalls
• Provide guidance, direction, and training to department and support personnel
• Identify and drive cost reduction initiatives utilizing fundamental understanding of process capability and parts usage
• Interface with Engineering, Infrastructure/Maintenance, IT, PPD and Trades
• Work with Operations team including section & shift supervision, and associates as required to improve manufacturing performance
**Required Qualifications**
• Two-year degree in a technical field with minimum of 2 yrs experience in manufacturing OR minimum of 5 yrs experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Technical troubleshooting on electrical systems, mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, control systems and PLCs
• Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
• Inherent drive to improve performance and reduce cost utilizing out-of-the-box thinking
• Availability for off-hours on-call support and ability to work non-traditional hours
• Ability to work within a team and provide training to others
**Desired Qualifications**
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Electrical technical skills and aptitude including electrical handheld instrumentation

The range for this position is $57,899.00 - $79,612.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
