Chemours is seeking a Manufacturing Technology (MT) Automation and Process Control Engineer to join our growing Nafion™ ion exchange materials team! This position will report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager at our Fayetteville, NC location.
This position provides technical expertise in one or more technology areas and ensures safety, reliability, capability, and productivity of the facilities. Develops improved process instrumentation and control strategies which support improved process safety, yields, plant capacity and uptime performance. May serve in a Process Safety Management critical role. Mentors other engineers/chemists and assists in operations training.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide electrical and instrument support to the operations unit
Create and implement changes of design pertaining to automation jobs ranging from small to major capital projects
Implement DCS and PLC Software changes for new and existing systems
Troubleshoot electrical and instrument problems as needed for the production areas
Serve as an alarm and interlock guardian for the area.
Implement corporate directives around automation and control systems.
Lead RCFA pertaining to electrical and instrumentation equipment
Resource of Electrical Safety team
The following is required for this role:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering, Or High school diploma with 10+ years of equivalent work experience demonstrating the required skills
Minimum 2-5 years of process automation and control engineering experience or relevant coop experience.
Competent in basic electrical and instrument design, maintenance, and installation. (Motors, Motor Starters, Drives, Soft-starters, Instrumentation)
Knowledgably in flow, pressure, temperature, level, PH and conductivity transmitters and sensing elements
Knowledge on Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers
Knowledgeable in variable frequency drives.
The following is preferred for this role:
Experience in Rockwell Automation is a plus
Six Sigma certified as Green Belt preferred
Competent in Safety Interlock Systems- working, testing and troubleshooting a plus
Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) & Probability of Failure on Demand (PFD) experience is a plus
Work experience in a chemical manufacturing process or oil / gas industry a huge plus
