Responsibilities:
+ Function as the manager of the MTC tooling and automation systems mechanical design department.
+ Review and recommend tooling and automation system designs and processes for manufacturing areas
+ Organize and plan/forecast mechanical design workload
+ Expertise in manufacturing tooling / fixturing and industrial automation systems.
+ Lead the advancement of tooling technology and automated manufacturing solutions
+ Provide estimates of mechanical design function for tooling and automation system project budget setting
+ Manage / lead tool engineering functions including design and build where applicable.
+ Ability to lead project types that may include Continuous improvement and developing capital appropriation projects.
+ Responsible for coaching, motivating, mentoring and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.
+ Assist in the hiring, placing, transferring and promoting of employees.
+ Monitor new developments in manufacturing/process technology, design for manufacturability methods, cost estimation and control, etc. by attending seminars, benchmarking, research, etc.
+ This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ 5-7 years related experience
+ Associate degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
+ Non-degree considered if 6+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
+ Basic understanding of industrial type process/equipment that supports different types of fabrication, welding, machining, plastics, robotics, electronics, painting, and assembly is recommended.
+ Knowledge of SPC, Lean and Six Sigma principles.
+ Must be able to lead cross-functional teams and manage medium to large projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ A two-year college degree, preferably in tool and die making, mechanical or electrical engineering and five to seven years of prior experience in fixture building, controls engineering, mechanical design, welding, fabrication or programming/operating CNC equipment.
+ Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with a commonsense approach are also desired.
+ Ability to think out of the box and move the organization forward.
