MAP PROJECT COORDINATOR
Job Description APPLICANTS MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE PRINCIPLE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE. The Medical Assistance Program (MAP) administers public health insurance programs, including Medicaid, for the City of New York. Applying individuals and families are approved for eligibility against applicable Federal and State guidelines. Those found to be eligible can use coverage provided to access doctors, medication and other health care services at little or no cost. The Medical Assistance Program (MAP) is recruiting for one (1) Principal Administrative Associate III to function as a MAP PROJECT COORDINATOR, who will: - Coordinator under the general direction of the Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC), with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative, the MAP Project Coordinator performs difficult and responsible administrative work to assist the MAP ADC in overseeing their Medicaid program areas. The Project Coordinator manages the Case Review process designed to implement error reduction initiatives across MAP, to share knowledge, and increase core competencies of procedures and policies. The Project Coordinator assists the ADC with synthesizing and tracking relevant information from meetings and management reports, tracking productivity, identifying trends, and disseminating relevant information across the ADC's program areas. - Attend with or represent the MAP ADC in Case Review meetings conducted monthly by Program Directors to review errors and trends within each program area. Identify and report to the ADC key findings and trends. Monitor the calendar to ensure that Journal and Supervisory Reminder meetings are held regularly to disseminate relevant information and attend these meetings to help ensure they are conducted in accordance with ADC's directives. Assist in recommending corrective actions and tracks corrective action plan compliance. Identify best practices that can benefit multiple program areas and ensure that those approved by the ADC are communicated across the Case Review meetings. - Represent the ADC in a variety of internal and external operational and project meetings. Track and communicate information as appropriate to achieve ADC’s objectives. Monitor caseload and headcount reports provided by the MAP Reporting & Analysis Division and ITS for all program areas, identify trends and anomalies and inform the ADC, and communicate conclusions to the program areas. - Assist the ADC and Directors with the most complex and high-profile cases by researching and offering an interpretation of the applicable Federal and State laws and regulations. Utilize the United States Code (USC), the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), the NYS Social Services Law (SSL), and the New York Codes, Rules and Regulations (NYCRR) as primary information sources to address unique circumstances not addressed by HRA procedures. - As directed by the ADC, review case records and queue screens. Assist the ADC and their Program Area Directors in coordinating the proper processing of complex cases that span two or more MAP Program areas. - Prepare suggestions for corrective action plans based on data collected from Case Review Sessions for the ADC ensuring that deficiencies are addressed. Corrective actions may include re-training staff, reassignments and workflow optimization. - Prepare all memorandums and related documents/ materials required for specific and varied activities of the office of the ADC/ Executive Director's for distribution to staff and Program Directors. - Coordinate staffing and personnel related activities within the ADC's office. Salary Range: $64,137 - $ $73,758 Work Location: 470 Vanderbilt Avenue, 6th floor, Brooklyn, NY 11238 Hours/Schedule: 9AM – 5PM (FLEX) Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or 2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above; 4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
