Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR’s Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices.

In the role of Marine Biologist I, we'll count on you to:Perform scientific/environmental project assignments requiring application of moderately complex objectives and limited variablesAssist on projects requiring scuba divingAssist as needed with the deployment of offshore passive acoustic monitoring gearAssist as needed as an observer on offshore aerial surveys for large whalesAnalyze acoustic data collected from whale tagsAssist as needed on vessel surveysWork independently on medium-sized projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projectsGive direction to clerical and technical personnel as neededConduct biological field surveys, data interpretation and analysis, and plan and manage written environmental reportsWork on assignments that require dealing with diverse working conditions while in the field as neededPerform other duties as neededThis position is subject to a governmental background checkPreferred QualificationsPrevious experience in environmental, wildlife, coastal or fisheriesA minimum of 1 year experience supporting biological/environmental projectsLeadership skills and ability to work in a team environmentScuba Diving experience (scientific preferred but extensive open-water experience may suffice)Ability to obtain Common Access Card (CAC) upon hireAbility to travel up to 50% per year from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific when project needs requireLocal candidates preferredRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biology or closely related field Proficiency with MS Office Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
