We are currently seeking a Marine Engineer to support a critical program for NOAA. The role involves providing expertise on the concept and design development of ships for ocean exploration and research. This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office.
Responsibilities
+ Provide technical evaluation of vendor proposed system designs.
+ Assess and determine expected performance to meet requirements.
+ Periodically write technical papers on the risk of systems.
+ Review and modify drawings, conduct shipboard material inspections, and develop ship alteration packages.
+ Travel up to 20 percent of the time, potentially including international travel.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
+ 10 years of experience in shipbuilding.
+ Ability to perform system design analysis and verification.
+ Experience supporting ship concept/design development and performing feasibility studies.
+ Ability to review and modify drawings and possess strong technical writing skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience as a Chief Engineer.
+ Understanding of ABS/NOAA/USCG regulatory agencies' rules.
Work Environment
Hybrid environment with 2-3 days onsite and occasional travel. The office is located in Silver Spring, very close to a Metro stop. The team is dynamic and offers opportunities to engage in various roles beyond the primary responsibilities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
