Overview:
MPLX is seeking a Logistics & Storage(L&S) Personal Safety Manager to lead and supervise the Personal Safety team, providing oversight in all safety-related topics for the Marine organization and regional Terminal groups. This role will collaborate with L&S Environmental, Safety, Security and Product Quality (ESS&PQ), Marine, and Terminal leadership to ensure alignment across organizations and components, serving as a key link between Marine Safety, L&S Safety, and corporate teams, to foster a “One L&S” culture.
The Personal Safety Manager will direct the safety team to achieve Company and Marine objectives and ensure compliance with Marine, Terminal, and L&S safety programs and policies. This position requires a proactive leader with strong organizational and influence skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, experience supervising a team and the ability to build trust with teams and government agencies.
Responsibilities:
· Member of the Marine Leadership Team providing strategic direction for safety.
· Foster a culture of safety and trust by maintaining effective leadership and engagement through field presence with employees, internal customers, local leadership, and contractors.
· Lead safety team by being a connected leader who empowers their team to accomplish goals, improve culture and implement strategies necessary for safe operations.
· Collaborate successfully with Marine leadership, local regional Terminal leadership, and L&S ESS&PQ to align and foster a "One L&S" mindset.
· Lead compliance in accordance with Occupational Safety Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT) and other regulatory requirements, industry practices, and company initiatives by developing and supervising the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs.
· Support Marine Compliance group with U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) compliance programs as needed.
· Implement corporate safety initiatives and evaluate compliance with safety policies, procedures, and programs.
· Maintain a thorough working knowledge of component processes, engineering controls, administrative controls, injury and illness controls, and new safety developments, including advancements in construction and major projects.
· Drive strategic improvement of internal processes and programs by influencing individuals and teams.
· Develop and implement safety and industrial hygiene audit programs and oversee completion of corrective actions resulting from audits.
· Ensure safety performance in a cost-effective environment by preparing and managing annual and mid-year budgets, monitoring actual safety expenditures, and making necessary adjustments.
· Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety and communicate these to component staff on a routine basis. Create corrective action plans to ensure KPIs meet objectives and goals.
· Support site/asset emergency planning and response efforts.
· Oversee and support the Marine Document Management System and asset documentation.
· Accountable for the safety teams’ portion of the L&S safety budget and also accountable for the safety budget held within the Marine organization.
· Ensure collaboration across L&S Operations to ensure the Safety organization is supporting a one L&S model to effectively and efficiently support the business.

Minimum Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED and eight (8) years of relevant HES experience
Driver's License Required
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in an HES or related field, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist or similar a plus.
