Role Purpose:
Key customer facing Project Management role for the Marine business unit within GE Power Conversion UK Ltd.
An opportunity for an experienced Project Manager, although consideration will also be given to less experienced applicants with a strong desire to develop into the role.
Our Project Managers must have the ability to form effective working relationships with Customers, other Team Members, and third-party suppliers to ensure the project objectives are achieved.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will perform the following duties:
Manage projects for the Marine business unit concerned, to ensure that contractual obligations are met on time and to budget. The focus of the project is the development of key applications for a Naval customer.Be the primary point of contact for the Customer on each project, building a strong and effective Customer relationship achieving a high level of customer satisfaction and serving as a basis for repeat business.Lead and co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver the project objectives in a structured and efficient manner.Interface with other GE participating units, multiple types of engineering resource and external suppliers as needed.Managing the commercial, technical, and quality aspects of the project.Creating, maintaining, and driving progress against a project planEnsure timely and accurate Customer invoicing and on time payment collection.Ensuring compliance with GE processes and procedures at all times.Registering, compiling, submitting and negotiating extensions of time, scope changes to contract and other claims as appropriateCarrying out project reviews to control projects, check progress, manage cost, identify deviations from plan, identify risk and forecast future performanceThe above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and incumbents are expected to undertake all reasonable duties as requested.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
British citizenship, with a valid British Passport and no dual citizenshipMinimum HNC in engineering qualification.A minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing technical projects involving engineering teams.Experience of interfacing with external customers and being commercially astute.Good understanding of project finances enabling effective control of invoicing, costs and internal trading. Able to critique a project from a financial view.Full UK driving licence.Ability to achieve Security Clearance at least to ‘Basic’ levelMust be willing and ale to travel when required, for example to customer, supplier, or job site locations.Desired Characteristics:
Commercial or Technical DegreeProfessional status and/or formal qualification in a body related to Project Management or Quantity SurveyingKnowledge of Marine / Naval MarketsBusiness operations & management experienceExperience with contractual & legal aspectsProcurement & supplier negotiations experienceCompetence in the use of SAP would be advantageousYou can expect from us:
