proprietary Electric Boat workforce trainings CCRI is seeking maritime professionals preferably with some teaching experience to join the academic team at our Westerly satellite location on a year round part time basisThe teacher assistant assists in the delivery of our non credit maritime trades curriculum and educational programs for the Division of Workforce PartnershipsThe teacher assistant assists the instructor in ensuring that learning occurs skills are developed and students are motivated to learn and achieve their educational and employment objectivesTrainings are scheduled in response to employer partner demand and can include day evening andor weekend hours The Division is looking to build a bank of teachers assistants to meet the varied needs of Rhode Island employersThis role is in response to employer demand and can include day evening andor weekend hours The maritime trades teacher assistant will be responsible for communicating what shifts they are available to work and ensuring that they are able to work all classes that they agree to teachTeacher assistants are scheduled on both 1st and 2nd shift schedules If available to work on 2nd shift the teacher assistant must be willing to work until 12 am Duties and Responsibilities Assist in classroom and hands on instruction in our maritime trades curriculum Keep work plans equipment and lab assignments organized for the instructor Provide one to one mentoring and teaching of students Use technology to communicate effectively with students and colleagues and assist with program record keeping and reporting requirements Work creatively in all classes taught to discourage student withdrawal and maintain satisfactory retention Understand the Americans with Disabilities Act ADA and adhere to CCRIs policies and procedures for responding to student requests for accommodations Assist in keeping organized records of students attendance assessments and progress including a final evaluation Work collaboratively in a diverse inclusive and student centered environment with students of various learning styles cultures identities and life experiences Attend regular teacher assistant training minimum of 2 per year Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Experience in a trade environment andor an education shop environment Experience in either traditional instruction peer training or on the job mentoring Intermediate digital communication technology skills presentation tools online meetings etc Experience with classroomteam management Excellent written and oral communication skills Proficient in the use of technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications Word Excel and PowerPoint primarily email and the internet for instruction and program purposes Creativity and flexibility in the classroom are expected Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive confidential issues Work collaboratively with students and colleagues Competencies At least 1 years experience working for Electric Boat Experience in the pipefitting electrical sheet metal painting rigging mechanical STO or electrical STO trades Experience working in adult education settings Relevant teaching andor TA experience Knowledge of successful strategies for classroom management Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning theory life skills and college and career readiness curricula for adult populations Reports To Westerly Satellite Program Coordinator amp Maritime Trades Program Coordinators Campus Location Satellite Campus Full timePart time Part Time Shift Days and Additional Work Schedule Information Availability for 1st shift and 2nd shift Mondays through Fridays If working on 2nd shift teacher assistants must be willing to work until 12 am Work Schedule Other Benefits No SalaryHourly Rate Part Time hourly rate starts at 3600 Additional Salary Information Opportunity to be paid at instructor rate of 4880 when instructor leaves for the day Licenses Tools and Equipment Will be
