Responsibilities

The Market Director of Oncology Services is responsible to the Market CEO for the overall administration and success of Oncology Services within CHI Saint Joseph Health. This person is responsible for planning, directing and evaluating the provision of a standardized delivery of clinical services for the assigned CHI Saint Joseph Health oncology service line in accordance with the professional standards of the clinical disciplines, applicable regulatory requirements and business/patient care objectives of the organization. An incumbent provides strategic leadership in assessing, developing and implementing initiatives/activities which improve financial performance/productivity, maximize effective utilization of resources, enhance patient outcomes/service satisfaction of all identified customer groups and generate a competitive advantage. An incumbent works in close collaboration with the CHI Saint Joseph Health Medical Group and other regional departments/services lines with respect to business plan development and to coordinate services across the care continuum.

Essential Key Job ResponsibilitiesClosely collaborate with leadership partners to effectively oversee the service line across the continuum.Responsible for development of multi-horizon service line strategy and action plans in alignment with movement toward value-based care. Develop and implement business plans to integrate, optimize and grow service line across the continuum of care. Develop non-traditional services that meet the needs of consumers outside traditional hospital settings. Develop, monitor and utilize comprehensive, balanced scorecard including cost, quality and experience metrics designed to ensure service line is delivering value. Identify metrics that measure value in non-traditional, non-hospital centric terms.Responsible for development and administration of capital budgets in alignment with strategic direction to ensure financial health of the service line across the continuum, and coordination with operational leaders to determine impact on operational budgets.Partner with medical staff and physician enterprise leadership to develop and strengthen relationships and engagement with closely aligned providers in all markets across the continuum.Participate in provider recruitment efforts from establishing priorities to interviewing and selecting candidates.Oversees provider and staff development plans and retention efforts.Determine the distribution and rationalization of services, and appropriate allocation of resources to support the service delivery model.Aggressively pursues market through growth, innovation and other new business development opportunities within the service line.Responsible for coordination of accreditation and licensure activities.Determine facility and technology needs to support service line delivery model.Works collaboratively with Marketing to develop marketing and communication tactics that support service line strategies and direction.Oversee existing and potential joint ventures and other partnerships in support of the direction of the service line.Provide consultative leadership to other service line leadership and operating council.Responsible for assuring appropriate management practice, maintenance of appropriate staffing levels, competency assessment, staff orientation, ongoing education and development in all areas of responsibility.Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in related discipline; Master's Degree strongly preferred

Required Licensure and Certifications 

OCN within 3 months of employment

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

Seven years of progressively responsible related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities, including five years in a Leadership/management capacity.Experience with multi-site, in- and outpatient operations is desirable. Proven track record in achieving results through a highly collaborative leadership team (providers, clinicians and managers) is essential to success. Must possess strong knowledge/application of systems framework, excellent strategic thinking skills, demonstrated resource, management and stewardship skills, strong team orientation, strong customer-focus, demonstrated ability to lead/implement change activities, demonstrated skills in influencing through relationships, excellent analytical thinking skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.Knowledge of the principles, practices, standards, techniques, protocols and tools/equipment relating to clinical operations in a healthcare environment. Ability to plan, direct and evaluate the work of subordinate management staff, and to oversee the activities of managers with a matrixed relationship.
