Market Expansion Lead

This is what you will do:

The Expansion Markets are one of the key growth drivers of Alexion in the coming years, these markets include not only the so called Emerging Markets, but also some consolidated markets in Asia, Latam, MEA, Eastern Europe and Russia/Eurasia. As part of the Alexion Bold Ambition for 2030, we have the aspiration to reach 100 markets with our RD products and grow the number of patients we serve in the existing markets by diversifying the portfolio and increasethe penetration.

Complementing GVAP team market access role & responsibilities now extending to cover directly market access lead support with largest size markets of international region,  The Alexion Market Expansion Lead guides and partners with the in-market teams of the Expansion Markets to develop for the defined selected countries in his/her scope a robust country market entry/access plan in alignment with the GVAP strategy and teams to ensure we realize our bold ambition.

In addition to the above, for the markets in his/her scope, the Alexion Market Expansion Lead will:

support the strategic access capability building by sharing  best practices, co-developping and supporting in close alignment with GVAP global strategy the implementation of innovative approaches to maximise access.

represent the strategic access view as a member of the Market Expansion team to inform the decisions for the Alexion portfolio Market expansion in line with longer term commercial objectives, relevance for patients, customers and markets.

work with the Alexion cross-functional team (Head of Market Expansion, Area Directors and other Alexion support functions) as well as GVAP team ensuring strategic alignment between Alexion EUCAN &  International, GVAP and that the AZRDBUs have the right support level and visibility.

With his/her in-depth knowledge of the area, explores new opportunities, either extending our portfolio or opening new countries. 

The Market Expansion Lead will operate in synergy with GVAP colleagues in the same region of his/her countries in scope and and prioritizing markets on full alignment with GVAP.

You will be responsible for: 

Ensure strategic access alignment between the Astra Zeneca RDBU and Alexion International, EUCAN & GVAP and support the access strategy, of the AZ RDBUs in, facilitating roll-out of Alexion's pricing policies and templates

Provide hands on experience and strategic guidance in driving an actionable framework for Market Access strategy in the local markets in collaboration & alignment with GVAP (ie Innovative Value scheme, Patient Assisstance Program) and providing training on pricing policies to new team members

Explore with AZ local teams opportunities for market expansion and support the preparation of the business cases:

Organizing regular follow-up meetings to track status of preparation of business cases and reimbursement submissions, providing guidance to local teams and ensuring that the review of the cases is aligned with the recommendations provided by decision-makers.

Anticipating key questions that might emerge during the review of the cases and ensuring resolution of remaining questions, contributing to accelerate the review of business cases from Alexion side by performing an initial review of cases coming

Facilitate Access/HEOR materials for the preparation of country submissions and organizing ad-hoc calls with Access and HEOR leads for the preparation of the submissions.

 Have a strong understanding of the markets access landscape, anticipating related trends and risks, and propose action plans to respond to changes

Act in the best interest for AZ/Alexion overall; models the company values and holds self accountable for ensuring work meets the highest standards of ethics, compliance and quality

You will need to have:

Excellent track-record of  working in cross-functional teams

In country and/or above country market expertise/experience

Broad cultural orientation, with experience of working in an international context.

Understanding of the access and policy environment in the main markets/regions

Master Degree or higher education including strong scientific background

Fluency in English

We would prefer for you to have:

Experience in a pricing / market access function locally or regionally

Understanding of pricing and reimbursement processes in major markets
