Dewberry is seeking a Market Intelligence (MI) Intern to join us for the fall of 2024. The intern will report to the MI Director and will engage in the exploration and analysis of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry to support the achievement of organizational strategic goals.

 

The Team

The role directly supports the MI Program, but the individual will have a chance to work across the organization with multiple business units, marketing segment leaders, client managers and more. The goal of this internship opportunity is to engage the candidate in developing the skills and attributes needed to become a confident market researcher. Intern will practice:

· Extracting industry insights from news outlets, trade associations and other key intelligence sources

· Diving into competitor intelligence

· Adapting to evolving client needs to better-inform managers and staff with strategic decision-making

 

The MI Team will work with the candidate to identify areas of interest they would like to learn more about, develop goals, and assign activities that support the candidate’s goals while achieving the MI program objectives. There will be opportunities to shadow and work on specific assignments.

Responsibilities

The Market Intelligence Intern will:

· Participate in a variety of qualitative and quantitative research projects at commercial, local, federal, and state levels

· Facilitate scheduling and logistics of team meetings and activities.

· Contribute to refining team processes, systems, and practices.

· Track research projects, initiatives and annual plan milestones to accomplish program goals.

 

Additional responsibilities include: supporting the Market Intelligence Director and MI Coordinator with research projects that build the companywide intelligence culture; and assisting with strategic business planning.

 

This opportunity is well-suited for individuals with an interest in market research and analysis, industry trends, research application, data visualization for internal consumption, policy and legislative tracking and analytical reading/writing.

 

Responsibilities may include:

· Market research assignments: compiling data from competitive intelligence and market analysis sources

· Funding: Centralizing data and tracking sources of federal and state funding

· Assisting with data management

· Assisting with presentation and report presentation development to ensure market research data is communicated in a concise and actionable manner

· Writing and editing support

Required Skills & Required Experience

Requirements

· Pursuing a B.S. or recent graduate in Market Intelligence, Business/Marketing, Economics, Policy, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field

· Strong research and analytical skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills

· Attention to detail

· Ability to work in a remote/hybrid setting

· Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, decision-making and problem-solving skills

 

Nice to Have

· Experience in the AEC industry or government contracting.

· Interest in our engineering and architecture market segments: water, transportation, energy, federal, community facilities, health and wellness, education, disaster response, resilience and climate change adaptation solutions, sustainability, real estate and commercial development, telecommunications and justice.

· Familiarity with Power BI, Airtable and Microsoft Teams

 

Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week.
