Business: Employee Vetting (Digital Business Services)

Principal responsibilities

Lead the India GSC Vetting Operations team based in Hyderabad / Bangalore with a team of HSBC Vetting investigators and also have an oversight on Vendors supporting India team. GSC India is one of the largest stakeholder for the India team and hence working with Center Directors, Exco Members, Lines of Business will be critical to the success of the delivery process. Staff engagement will be another key expectation. Other activities include but not limited to the below activities. Judgement- provides sound input that focuses on risk and control management but recognizes efficiency and commerciality. Keeps things simple. Will represent Regulatory and Compliance Ops Screening Vetting at senior meetings e.g. Committee, ExCo, ManCo, Skilled Person visits, IMR, Audit meetings, External Bodies etc. Build and maintain good effective working relationships between Operations Management, Regional Senior Managers and other interactive process owners as appropriate. Act as central point for co-ordination within Regulatory and Compliance Ops Vetting Operations for HR, onshore and offshore regional teams and Group Regulatory and Compliance Ops Vetting. Identify areas of service improvement.Ensure that the vetting teams undertake regular liaison with their HR “customers” to ensure that the vetting process works as smoothly as possible.Capacity to create and maintain a strong working network across multiple groups and locations, establishing building open and transparent relationships. Break down different team silos.Strong team working skills and ability to provide direction to multiple teams across geographies. Visibly lead and motivate the operational teams in pursuit of excellence, ensuring effective communications, development of skills and competency.Continue seeking ways to improve the process handled by vendors and HSBC and win the confidence of staff by fostering a proactive cost conscious and innovative work culture. Maintain and develop a team of high productive efficient executives and operation staff through effective use of the new performance management system, regular coaching, counselling and motivation. Leads / owns their domain and key stakeholder relationships, referrals to Senior Management are well thought through and contain options and a recommendation. Proactively pushing things forward at a good pace. Always thinking forward and anticipating the needs of stakeholders and the wellbeing of staff.

The job holder will not be subject to close supervision and will therefore be expected to exercise initiative in proactively overcoming obstacles to successful global standardised processingHandling multiple stakeholders at the same time with competing priorities from each region. Ensuring the same high level of service is delivered by all teams. Constantly engaging with the vetting teams, Global Vetting Regulatory and Compliance Ops and HR to ensure the key priorities are met.Appropriate Communication and Engagement is established across the Group.The role will have a remit across GSC India teams and the individual will need to strike a balance between Run the Bank, Vendor Management and Change initiatives. The individual will need to be able to Influence others when not always having direct line management responsibility.Effectively identify , track and then mitigate identified Operational Risks.Comply with Group’s statutory audit standards. Stay abreast with the background investigation and market trends.
