The anticipated salary range for this role is between $198,000.00 and $230,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

SMBC seeks a Director to lead the ‘Market Risk Analysis & Reporting Group’ within the Enterprise Risk Stripe of Risk Management Department Americas Division (RMDAD). The Director will manage 2 teams within the Market Risk Analysis & Reporting Group: the ‘Daily Risk Analysis & Reporting Team’ and ‘Regulatory Reporting & Analysis Team.’  This position will report to the Head Team Lead (Executive Director) of Market Risk Reporting. The Director has a keen understanding of U.S., Japan, and Basel 2.5 / Basel 3 Market Risk regulatory reporting requirements, risk reporting best practices based on Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) 239 principles, and a proven track record of managing a Market Risk analysis and reporting team

Role Responsibilities: ·Leads 2 Market Risk analysis and reporting teams while ensuring accurate and timely report submissions  Drives enhancements to improve Market Risk aggregation and reporting processes Develops, implements, and maintains risk controls for Market Risk regulatory and non-regulatory reporting processes  Ensures compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and best practices, including BCBS 239 principles  Prepares and presents risk committee meeting materials to internal stakeholders and regulators  Provides regular status updates to senior management and escalates issues timely, as necessary  Updates and ensures compliance with Market Risk reporting documents  Manages ad-hoc projects as necessary

Qualifications and Skills Recommended years of experience: 10 Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, business administration, or related field  At least 5 years of experience in a Market Risk analysis and reporting role in the banking industry  Preferred: Understanding of programming language including, SQL, Python, R, C++ Proficient in VBA and visualization tools such as PowerBi and Powerpoint Familiarity with commonly used databases for data aggregation, including Microsoft SQL, MySQL, and Oracle Strong knowledge of Market Risk regulatory reporting requirements, specifically as it relates to foreign banking organizations (FBOs), including Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and JFSA requirements, and BCBS 239 principles Solid understanding of financial products and their risks; including, but not limited to, interest rate swaps, swaptions, caps/floors, corporate bonds, CDS, and Treasuries Ability to communicate appropriately at every level of the organization, including risk peers, business partners, technology teams, and senior management   Strong organizational skills, with proven ability to successfully manage multiple, concurrent priorities Detail oriented with proven ability to question the status quo and apply effective challenge  Team player that demonstrates and promotes a positive team culture  Additional Requirements
