Context: Within GEMS, the Risk Expertise Center’s (EC Risk) purpose is to, on one hand, advise and help the Business Platforms in optimizing their activities making sure it respects all the rules and limits, and on the other hand, to manage, monitor and control the risks that GEMS is facing globally in its commercial and energy management activities. In the context of its re-organization, the EC Risk has created EC Risk Europe with the general objectives to exercise these roles for the European Scope of GEMs excluding Engie Global Markets. The worldwide activity of sale of energy (power, gas, green certificates…) to large and medium size corporates (B2B Supply) has been integrated within GEMS since February 2022. With 10 countries and more than 190 000 customers, transversal risk controls are a crucial point of integration. EC Risk Europe has a dedicated market Risk Downstream team with a focus on B2B activity in Europe. You will be part of a team of transversal market risk professionals directly and indirectly (matrixed) in the different B2B platforms. You will report directly to the Head of Market Risk Downstream. Your main interactions will be with BP Downstream, B2B Belgium, B2B France, B2B Netherlands, , BP Clients and One Retail (BE/Nl and FR). You will also interact with the other B2B platforms in Europe for the follow up of aggregated risk limits. Role: Monitor, control commodities positions and challenge FO strategies; Develop/update/Monitor Downstream specific risk metrics (e.g. volume, profile or balancing risks) Contributing to the harmonization of the Rik metrics across the different Platforms and the setup of a global Market Risk reporting framework; Be able to prepare Monthly Dashboard meetings where specific Risk indicators are reviewed; Validation of limits adjustment requests; Managing Risk mandate breaches : Notification at the appropriate management level; Review with FO Downstream portfolio managers the strategy to come back into the limit; Evaluate new transactions and business lines requiring specific market risk validation; Validating the deal representations in the deal capture systems; Advise, discuss and review risk management strategies with the management and Downstream FO; and in particular, steer the end of year Risk Mandate review process; Maintain/challenge/improve Downstream Market Risk tools and reporting templates; Project management: lead or contribute to projects transversally in downstream; Support Internal/External Audits related to the risk. Hard skills: Financial Engineering skills with advanced knowledge in mathematical finance and Market Risk; You have strong analytical and digital skills (python); Detail-focused and process-oriented Soft skills: Communication : strong inter-personal skills to interact with portfolio managers, traders and other team members; Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions about market risk exposures. Teamwork: Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment. Education and professional background: University degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Sciences, IT or similar); 1-5 years minimum working experience in the energy or finance sector; Languages: You can write and speak English fluently; Travels:No specific travel required
