The anticipated salary range for this role is between $155,000.00 and $185,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role DescriptionUsing a number of modeling techniques and data structures, project the potential loss attributable to changes in market values on the trading book. Create scenarios across a number of timeframes. Monitor potential loss across different types of risks. Based on model results, suggest risk reduction and hedging strategies.
Role Objectives: DeliveryUsing a number of modeling techniques and data structures project the potential loss attributable to changes in market values on the trading book. Create scenarios across a number timeframes. Measure fair value / market prices for asset prices using existing pricing data from businesses, counterparties and markets, and replacement cost. Create, measure and monitor potential loss across different types of risks considering correlation between instruments. Based on model results, suggest risk reduction and hedging strategies.
Role Objectives: InterpersonalWork closely with units such as treasury and trading functions to better understand the instruments and associated risks in their businesses. Collaborate with consulting firms, academic institutions and other financial institutions to improve modeling techniques and understand emerging issues. Broaden your market perspective and improve pricing through partnerships with market counterparties. Improve data gathering and modeling by working closely with units such as IT. Network within the industry through meetings, events and involvement with trade organizations to better understand emerging risk trends. Establish relationships with auditors and regulators to better understand their concerns and reduce potential compliance issues.
Role Objectives: ExpertiseApply a working knowledge of financial analysis / markets to mark assets to market especially those assets without ready market values. Demonstrate a solid understanding of financial markets and economics to ensure models take into account current and changing conditions and to create a valid set of variables and scenarios. Demonstrate advanced risk modeling skills to take into account various types of risk, correlation between risks and idiosyncratic risk. Have a solid understanding of information technology, data management and statistical analysis to create meaningful modeling and analysis. Communicate analytical data effectively.
