Marketing Data Steward Lead

Job Description:

At Mars Snacking, we are on an ambitious journey to rewire and almost double the size of our business by 2030. We see digital and data as an increasing multiplier of value across not just Mars Wrigley, but also the Health and Wellness and Retail global business units of Mars Snacking.

With this in mind, we recently established the Chief Data Office (CDO) Organization to define and execute the end-to-end enterprise data strategy inclusive of data and platform governance associated with AI for the company. In collaboration with our various Global Process Experience Owners (GXOs), Regional Champions and CIOs, Functional Business and Digital Technology Leaders, and Global Business Services teams, we will establish robust data quality practices, effective operating models, evolve data in conjunction with AI literacy, and implement durable technology capabilities to govern our data as an asset from end to end. The CDO organization will serve as an accelerator to our Mars Snacking’s next generation of data-led AI journey.

What are we looking for?

· Expertise in the marketing and consumer engagement functional data domains such as Customer, Digital Assets, MRM, Sales, Insights, Digital Commerce etc.

· Recent experience in a data steward related role is preferred.

· 7+ years of experience in data analysis, data architecture, data management, and/or data quality, AI, and other related technical disciplines

· Experience analyzing and understanding business processes to determine and capture data requirements

· Experience managing and/or coordinating a variety of technical and non-technical talent in complex programs from a data-related function

· Deep understanding of data modelling concepts (conceptual, logical, physical) preferred

· Experience with data governance, catalog and quality tools such as Collibra, Informatica, SAP, and/or Microsoft Purview

· Experience with Master Data Management, SAP MDG and core data objects such as Customer and Vendor data.

· Data transformation experience within the Consumer Products & Goods industry is preferred but not required.

· Experience engaging with technical and non-technical audiences to understand their priorities and related data skill needs.

· Experience working with all levels of employees from entry-level to senior leadership.

What will be your key responsibilities?

1. Leadership and Execution of Stewardship Initiative

o Support the Global Director – Data & AI Stewardship and Delivery – Engage-to-Consume in the leadership and execution of a fully integrated Data and AI stewardship strategy for Marketing and Consumer Engagement.

o Align stewardship efforts with business objectives and priorities.

o Guide the global and regional business leads with data and AI enabled opportunities to accelerate the process simplification and digitization journey.

o Develop and execute templates and frameworks for the capture of complex data design and business process metadata

o Build a backlog to support data improvements, quick wins and prioritization for marketing and consumer engagement, to be reviewed by wider governance councils and forums as necessary

2. Data Governance, Quality, and Metadata Management Orchestration:

o Capture data object and critical data element mappings against detailed business process steps within marketing and consumer engagement

o Collaborate with the Data Architecture program office to produce a technology-agnostic logical data model which serves all aspects of marketing and consumer engagement while supporting enterprise-wide capability

o Embed data governance, ownership and stewardship design into the marketing and consumer engagement business process

o Facilitate adherence to data governance policies, and guide the management of data standards, and execution of data quality discipline across E2E marketing process scope.

o Ensure that marketing and consumer engagement metadata is captured, curated, and maintained overtime so it stays F.A.I.R i.e. Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

3. Data in support of AI/Analytics Deployment for Marketing:

o Analyse, document, optimize and orchestrate plans for fit-for-AI/Analytics data to enable marketing and consumer engagement innovation.

o Work closely with the data architects, data modelers/engineers, data scientists and AI engineers to ensure data is mapped, tested and ready for analytics models.

o Coordinate with the functional analytics team serving marketing and consumer engagement such as the One Demand team to continuously improve, monitor, and publish KPI metrics related to usage adoption of analytic and AI capabilities.

4. Cross-functional, market and regional collaboration:

o Work closely with data stewards and custodians from global, regions, markets, etc. to orchestrate timely and right level of support for data issues across marketing and consumer engagement.

o Engage with and manage relationships with business and digital technology stakeholders to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.

o Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities effectively.

5. Continuous improvement and Innovation:

o Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

o Adapt data stewardship processes to evolving needs within E2E marketing and consumer engagement.

o Support change management and data literacy/training needs of mega process scope.

6. People Management:

o Guide and/or manage Regional Data Stewards who serve as the connective tissue between all regional / market level entities owning, accessing, and leveraging data assets with the business.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the below range, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay & general allowances (depending on the position and employee’s work schedule).  Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable policies and plans then in effect, and depending on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule), eligible employees are automatically enrolled in a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents, and may be eligible to take up to 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Employees will also receive the following paid-time off (which may be prorated based on start date and the employee’s work schedule): 120 hours of vacation per year, paid sick time for eligible Associates of 100% pay continuation for a maximum of 40 hours per calendar year, and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year that include both fixed and flexible holidays.
