The Marketplace host or hostess is the cashier, stocker and critical first impression of the marketplace retail space at The Westin Cleveland, and therefore is empowered to create memorable guest experiences and quickly assist our travelers and corporate neighbors with coffee, food and beverage and retail items.

Responsibilities

• Be friendly and accommodating at all times.

• Proactively welcome guests as they arrive with a helpful demeanor. Wish them a fond farewell upon their departure.

• Thank the guest for their purchase and visiting the hotel.

• Foster positive relationships with the various departments in the hotel including but not limited to, outlets, culinary. front desk, housekeeping and engineering.

• Become a subject matter expert about the hotel and the local area to best assist guests and visitors with any questions they may have. This is a high traffic location located in the vicinity of our lobby and elevators.

• Use your sales proficiency to verbally market available items for purchase.

• Read, maintain, and make daily entries in the logbook to coordinate communication between shifts and management.

• Maintain proper set-up and cleaning of the Marketplace, always ensuring a presentable appearance appealing to our guests and visitors.

• Restock items as required for food, beverage and retail. Maintain the Starbucks coffee machine as required.

• Accommodate special guest requests.

• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis based on business requirements.

•Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Ability to comprehend guest requests, work instructions, logs and necessary written instructions and checklists.Must have excellent cash handling skills and accountability, requiring a cash bank count at the start and conclusion of every shift.Ability to remember, recite and promote items available for sale.Ability to stand frequently and interact with our guests and visitors.Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer, and providing positive and proactive solutions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.Effective verbal and written communication skills with a friendly demeanor.Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.Can do attitude able to contribute to the needs of the hotel and necessary job requests.
