We are seeking a talented individual to join our Human Resources team at Marsh McLennan. This role can be based in Toronto or Ottawa. It is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Marsh McLennan Canada Human Resources Manager, you will coach, support and advise People Managers, aiming to develop and enhance the quality of people management throughout the colleague lifecycle. This role will also include project work to support business success.
This role is a great opportunity for a developing HR Generalist/ ER professional to work with People Managers. Business leaders, HR Centers of Excellence (CoE) and the People Function team across the US in Canada.

At times supporting HR Managers across the US and Canada as they support their client teamsMay have a dedicated client portfolio and at times be required to provide cover for HR Managers across US and CanadaSupport and from time to time take responsibility for coordinating, the rollout and delivery of HR programs and contribute to process improvementsProvide guidance and support to People Managers across the full range of activities in the HR portfolio, including and not limited to performance management, skills and competence development and learning, succession planning, absence /leaves management, change management, organizational effectiveness, compensation, benefits and total rewards including the year-end processSupport employee relations matters including investigations, performance improvement processes, disciplinary actions, grievances, appeals etc. – where matters are more complex, the HR Manager will engage with the Employee Relations CoE for advice and supportCultivate strong relationships with functional teams (Tax, Finance, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition) and support the alignment between the people and business strategiesEnsure that regulatory and statutory obligations are discharged including statutory and/or regulatory reporting requirementsConsult with People Partners and CoEs to determine best practices, continuously improve delivery methods, and especially consider country-specific nuances to guide local implementationWhat you need to have:
4+ years’ relevant experience in HR alongside a requirement for suitable qualificationsExperience supporting colleagues and leaders in both the US and in CanadaAbility to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tactExperienced in supporting managers with employee relations case management including investigationsDemonstrated ability to effectively coach managers at most levels in the business through all aspects of the employee life cycle including in more complex situationsExperience of successfully supporting project/initiative implementation across a population of managers recognizing the broader business objectivesThorough understanding of US and Canadian laws, regulationsExcellent interpersonal skills to connect with colleagues in business and in wider HR communityAdvanced technical skills MS Office Suite and enthusiasm for learning new skills as neededAdvanced English language fluencyWhat makes you stand out?
