Maryland Assistant Store Manager

Summary/Objective

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for effectively managing the operation of a convenience store. Assures that all aspects of the business operate smoothly in the Store Manager’s absence.

 

Responsibilities

Ensure self and all employees provide professional, courteous, and timely service to all customers.Operate cash register, collect, verify, maintain proper cash levels and report all moneys due to the company.Complete customer transactions accurately and efficiently, and ensure compliance with applicable age restricted product regulations such as lottery, tobacco, and alcohol.Demonstrate high standards and work ethics to others through words and actions.Complete all store housekeeping functions (i.e., dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, etc.).Maintain store and premises in a clean, healthful, attractive condition, and according to all company policies and applicable codes.Communicate in a timely and effective way, all problems and issues to Store Manager. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information or situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.Provide assistance and support to the Store Manager with inventory, ordering, and tracking merchandise sales.Verify, report, and deposit all moneys due company for goods sold on a daily basis.Identify and resolve inventory control problems.Identify opportunities to improve service and productivity, reduce costs, and increase sales and make recommendations to the appropriate personnel.Display and rotate merchandise as recommended by the marketing staff.Assure all company equipment and facilities are in good working order.Report and resolve all maintenance issues that occur during the shift.Provide job training and oversee productivity for all team members.Recommend team members for disciplinary action, job training, or promotion in manager’s absence.Train employees in sanitation rules and regulations. Share responsibility for shift coverage for call-offs when no other help can be found.Complete daily store errands including but not limited to, banking and competitive gas pricing.Make gas price changes.Comply with all company policies at all times.Acts as Person in Charge (PIC) in Manager’s absence.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.6 months’ employment with Rutter’s.Prior experience in retail/customer service industry. Prior management or leadership experience.
