Salary Range: $18.59-$29.93/Hour
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs a variety of semi-skilled masonry work to construct, maintain and repair roads, sidewalks, curbs, footings, walls, catch basins, ramps, storm drains, etc.; reads blueprints, pours concrete and footings, , builds and lays forms and supports, lays brick, seals grout and concrete, etc.
Determines amount of materials needed to complete projects and gathers equipment, tools, parts, and supplies; monitors inventory levels and initiates requests for new or replacement materials as required.
Ensures that work activities are in compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards; inspects roadways, sidewalks and drainage systems; identifies potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
Inspects/tests machinery, equipment and parts for proper operations; makes adjustments, repairs or replacements as appropriate; reports problem situations.
Performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; places safety cones, markers, or signs to alert employees/citizens of work areas and other potential hazards.
Receives various blueprints, work orders, policies, procedures, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Communicates with supervisor, other County departments and employees, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Operates or uses various equipment, tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operates and maintains drills, saws, mixers, blowers, masonry tools, dump truck and other equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; three years of experience in masonry; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License; and must possess and maintain certification as a Mason Journeyman.
