Mass Properties Engineer

Vehicle Lightweighting is a key concept inside of Mass Properties attribute and Vehicle Engineering and Energy Management, at Ford Product Development to pursue material savings and reduce environmental footprint, and improve attribute performances, such as fuel economy and payload. Lightweighting is a new role/position at Ford Motor Company to relentless pursue concept consolidation through process, methods, metrics, tool and cultural change implementation

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial) 5+ years of experience with mass property efficiency, systems engineering and/or integrative/reductive design.  Experience with CAD and optimization CAE relative to weight reduction and systems optimization 

Preferred Qualifications:

Enjoy applying your obsession to detail to understand and solve technical problems Proven ability to implement mass efficiency design concepts into production Understanding of systems engineering, automotive systems, material properties and Best-in-Class competitive designs Self-directed, confident individual with excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office  Relish collaborating across functions in a team environment, employing an open and honest communication style

What you'll do…

Lead Weight Target Setting process for PD programs Support process development about lightweighting concept towards Weight Cultural Change at Ford Motor Company PD. Develop efficiency metrics-KPI process.  Interface with the program teams to implement mass efficiency, scrutinize and drive changes that impact final delivery.  Guide the SIT/Functions teams process to ensure that mass efficiency is at the forefront. Challenge design standards and design concepts to maximize the mass reduction benefit.  Work with collaborative and energetic cross-functional teams to solve mass reduction challenges. Identify pain points and lessons learned to continuously improve the mas property delivery process
