Position Title: Massage Therapist
Department: Mercyone Genesis Medical Spa
Purpose: Provides touch therapy techniques to Medical Spa patients as directed by the Interdisciplinary Group. Services are provided in a compassionate, caring, professional, and efficient manner to assist the patient to meet their goals. The massage therapist may provide treatment independently according to the State of Iowa and Illinois practice guidelines.
Report To: Supervisor/Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervision: The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others.
Materials Responsibility: Very Limited. Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment, or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of control over these resources. Although human error might require the repair or replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor. The variety and volume of resources is also very limited. Problems associated with material resources are very uncomplicated.

POSITION SPECIFICATION
Education: 2 year college program or equivalent experience
Field Of Study: Massage Therapy
Special Training: Basic Life Support
Licensure/Registration: Licensed or eligible for state license within two weeks of employment; valid driver's license, auto insurance-Genesis minimum limits required.
Experience: Less than 1 year experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people. These may be fellow employees, customers, the public or others outside the organization. Communications are of limited difficulty. Interactions usually involve short, straightforward exchanges of information. The job requires a limited amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions are non-stressful encounters and dealing with uncomplicated problem situations.
Physical Demands: Moderate Intensity: Work requires moderate physical exertion. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 10 and 25 pounds. Job requirements for manual dexterity or physical manipulation are also moderate. The need for physical stamina and endurance is of some significance. The degree of physical strain produced on the job is moderately taxing, and is fatiguing. Work could involve a considerable amount of walking, standing, a confining or tiring work position, or constant periods of sitting in one position where freedom does not exist to walk about. The position exceeds these moderate intensity demands routinely, 36-70% of the time.
Working Conditions: There is exposure to some undesirable or unpleasant environmental characteristics. The physical environment is generally safe and there is minimal health risk. No safety equipment or unusual precautions are required. Exposure to these conditions would be limited to 70% or less of the work day.
