Education
Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Associates of Bachelor Electrical Degree
Credentials/Licensure
Minimum: Current State of Michigan Master's Electrical License.
Preferred: Master's Electrical License, held for at least three years.

Minimum: Three years’ experience as an electrician in a health care environment.
Preferred: Five or more years’ experience as a Master Electrician in a health care environment.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum:

Knowledge of installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and operating building electrical systems and emergency power generator systems.

Knowledge of local, state, and national regulatory electrical codes and requirements.
•
Skill in operating hand tools and the test equipment specific to the field.
•
Skill in reading and evaluating electrical blueprints, panel layout sheets, and other technical schematics.
•
Ability to follow written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.
Computer Competency
Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet, and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•
Assists in planning, installation, and maintenance of communication system and electrical distribution systems, including the installation of interconnecting cables and or circuits including low voltage.
•
Review blueprints and specifications to ensure systems will function as designed. Completes as-built surveys of electrical jobs and panels as required. Inspects work to insure proper design and installation.
•
Applies for appropriate electrical permits and coordinates electrical inspections and documentation during construction projects, new circuitry, and maintenance repairs. Inspects work to insure proper design and installation.
•
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and electrical distribution systems according to established procedures and guidelines and documents results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.
•
Performs corrective maintenance including diagnosing problems using electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or other sciences and documents results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards. These activities may include repair/replacement of such items as line isolation monitors, switches, outlets, lamp holders, ballasts, etc.
•
Helps develop preventive maintenance procedures using manufacturers recommendations, standard or code requirements, as well as utilizing professional experience as guidelines.
•
Interacts with other staff to understand and resolve operational problems which may involve providing training or education.
•
Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains emergency generators, power distribution systems, automatic transfer switches, motor control centers, etc.
•
Coordinates and monitors support efforts with outside service organizations when necessary to make sure the work they perform is appropriate and documented.
•
Completes a detailed Daily Time Sheet in AIMS to track work orders and preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous work.
•
Determines need for replacement parts and supplies and orders as appropriate.
•
Maintains age specific safety precautions including: No small or sharp objects or tools that may injure patients or visitors will be left unattended. Adequate lighting will be maintained for good visibility. Hallways and pathways will be free of debris, equipment, and tools.
•
Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, working to accomplish team objectives and projects, and by soliciting feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.
•
Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.
•
Serves on the department's Duty/Holiday Mechanic rotation list.
•
