Visit https://www.dignityhealth.org/socal/locations/californiahospital for more information. **Responsibilities** The Family Literacy Teacher provides educational services for young children ages 0-5 years working under the direction of the Family Literacy Coordinator. Major duties include planning and preparing daily classroom activities; direct instructional services; maintenance of classroom materials and equipment; and daily record keeping. The position requires flexibility with respect to responsibilities as The Hope Street Family Center - Family Literacy program evolves over a four-year funding period. All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner. **Qualifications** + A minimum of 2 years of early childhood classroom experience. + CPR and First Aid + A minimum of 24 units of coursework in child development including at least 3 units in infant/toddler development. + AA or BA in child development preferred; Child Development Associate Teacher or Teacher Permit preferred + Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds and at various organizational levels. + Skill in working independently and in following through on assigned projects in an independent and responsive manner under minimal supervision. + Experience in providing center-based child development services to low-income families and families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Knowledge of normal infant toddler and pre-school development and early childhood education/child care practices. + Ability to promote emerging communication and early language and literacy skills as well as school readiness skills Knowledge of child abuse and family violence reporting laws. + Knowledge of Creative Curriculum Ability to write concise logical and grammatically correct reports. + Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records and documentation. + Bilingual English/Spanish speaking and writing skills. + Child Development Associate Teacher or Teacher Permit preferred **Pay Range** $26.39 - $38.27 /hour We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
