Enhancing the User Experience of the P200 Graphical User Interface
Thesis Work Details (suitable for Masters or Bachelors thesis):
Location: Uppsala, Sweden
Focus Areas:
UX design
As part of our team, you will engage in the development, manufacturing, and optimization of diagnostic instruments and components. This opportunity is ideal for students specializing in mechanical engineering with a strong interest in plastics design, CAD, mechatronics, and robotics.
Summary
The current graphical user interface (GUI) of the P200 resides on a 9-inch touch screen. This interface is essentially a scaled-down version of a desktop application. However, feedback from users and operators indicates that the level of detail and complexity presented is not well-suited for such a small screen. This mismatch has led to usability issues, including difficulty in navigation, readability problems, and inefficient task execution.
Objectives
The main objectives of this thesis are:
To analyze the current user interface and identify key areas for improvement.
To design a new, user-friendly interface specifically tailored for a 9-inch touch screen.
To test the new interface with actual users to ensure it meets their needs and improves overall user satisfaction and efficiency.
To provide recommendations for future enhancements based on user feedback and testing results.
Expected Outcomes
A redesigned user interface that is easier to navigate and more intuitive for users.
Improved user satisfaction and efficiency in operating the P200.
A set of design guidelines and recommendations for future interface developments on similar devices.
