Primary Objective: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.
Loads, unloads, stores, receives and issues raw materials, operating supplies and finished products. Checks and stocks inventory of assigned operating supplies and/or raw materials (end disc, fabric cores, banding material, wire ties for rolls, etc.) and orders when inventories dictate. Solves computer related problems and other shipping/inventory problems. Doffs roll of fabric from loom and transports to warehouse and prepares roll of fabric for shipment. Transports fill yarn from storage area and places on fill yarn tree at each loom. Any other duties assigned by management.
Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.
Operates powered industrial truck and follows all rules and procedures. Change propane tank on powered industrial equipment, when needed. Before using powered industrial truck complete “Pre Shift Industrial Truck Inspections”, are done on a tablet. At beginning of shift receives the list of looms to be doffed from the off-going shift. Doff roll of fabric from loom, by priority. Doff rolls in order listed: 1) red lights, 2) rolls on production floor, 3) doff list, 4) white lights. Keep check on “Doff Board” for unexpected looms to be doffed. At end of shift, make list of looms to be doffed during the next shift and give to oncoming shift. Fill out “Warp Yardage Sheet” and “Weaver Fabric Identification Record”. Doff fabric. When doffing a loom, shoulder position must be perpendicular to take up. Before using, check condition of crank handle for wear, secure crank handle in both hands and use both hands to turn crank handle in a forward motion to push roll of fabric from take up to floor. If crank is hard to turn or roll of fabric will not freely roll out of take-up stop immediately and report to supervisor. Transport roll of fabric with “Weaver Fabric Identification Record” to warehouse and put in designated area (1st quality on strapper and 6th quality at QA Table). Unwinds/strips defect from roll of fabric, if needed, and places excess fabric in scrap boxes. Calculate weight and yards on roll of fabric that defect has been stripped from. Hold waste rolls over 100 yards in the warehouse for Lead Shipping Receiving. a. Remove tails from end of roll of fabric, as requiredb. follow JES for pick count on every roll.
Enter information in computer system from Weaver Fabric Identification Record to make label for each roll of fabric, distribute finished label to correct locations. Attach end disc to roll of fabric with wire tie and place roll of fabric on proper trailer or in appropriate bin in warehouse. Fix mistakes made when labeling backing by counting picks and check weight of roll of fabric. Use RF System to maintain direct shipping standards. Visually check trailers for holes, nails, or any type damage to trailer. Load trailers per orders. Open/close doors for direct shipping. Fix loading errors (no bills, no rolls, too many rolls, add or delete rolls). Check on orders. Receives and/or issues raw material and other operational supplies. Makes, distributes, and files the packing list and bill of lading. Take care of any type of delivery. Communicate with other employees in shipping/receiving and other departments throughout the plant. Communicate with employees at other facilities, as needed. Using core saw cut end of core off, if needed. Stage Fill Yarn in the weave room. Latch fill yarn trucks together. Transport fill yarn (truck/box) from storage area and place on fill yarn tree at each loom. Transport empty truck/box back to storage area. Issues fill yarn from inventory in computer system. Operates baler – see waste baler procedure and JSA. Replace roll of strapping, when needed. Blow off strapper and record on “Strapper Blow Off” sheet. Get fabric sample and take to lab, when needed. Checks and maintains inventory of operating supplies and/or raw materials. General Duties Empty trash dumpster. Participate in Safety programs Works safely and orderly. Notify supervision of any hazardous or unsafe conditions. Maintains clean and orderly work area. Perform all necessary miscellaneous work pertaining to the above job duties. Any other duties assigned by management.
Type of Experience and Knowledge:
Knowledge, Experience, Competencies and Supervision: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES:
Mandatory – Must be able to read and write in manner indicated on job application.
Preferred – Previous experience operating a powered industrial truck in a production environment. Basic computer skills to look up information and enter data.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work assigned schedule. Must have ability to obtain a powered industrial equipment license. Ability to learn job specific computer skills.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports to shift supervisor/department manager, but works with minimum amount of supervision.
DIRECTION EXERCISED:
Limited to personal activities required to perform duties of job.

Must maintain high standards for work quality and safety. Must be a self-starter and be able to move from one task to another without direction. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Frequency – Amount – Description)
STANDING / WALKING:
Ability to stand and walk continuously during a twelve (12) hour shift.
SITTING:
Ability to sit on powered industrial equipment eleven (11) hours in a twelve (12) hour shift.
MOVING SELF:
Moves throughout warehouse and production area continuously during a twelve (12) hour shift.
CLIMBING:
Ability to step on/off powered industrial equipment.
MOVING (MATERIALS): (Lifting – carrying – pushing – pulling)
Pushing/pulling - Ability to push empty/full core truck. Push one core truck at a time. Ability to push empty/full fill yarn truck containing up to 46 full fill yarn packages. Push one fill yarn truck at a time. Do not at any time pull core truck, fill yarn truck or any other (movable type) equipment. Ability to operate dock plate. Ability to open/close dock door. Ability to push down on core (miter) saw. Push rolls of fabric and maneuver fabric ends. Get help when needed.
Removing beam rack – two employees pull empty beam rack from under beam after lifting beam from rack with a lift truck.
Lifting/carrying - Ability to lift/carry thirteen (13) foot take-up cores from stack to pole truck and from pole truck to loom. Ability to repetitively lift/carry fill yarn packages weighing up to 30 pounds. Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds without mechanical assistance. Get help when needed.
HEARING / SPEAKING:
Must be able to communicate with co-workers, vendors and management as needed to perform job duties.
REACHING:
Vertical – Ability to reach overhead to retrieve fill yarn package from fill yarn truck. Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties.
Horizontal – Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties.
VISUAL ACUITY:
Must have adequate normal, color vision and depth perception to perform job duties. Ability to utilize both near and far vision while performing job duties. Ability to recognize defects.
BENDING / STOOPING:
Ability to bend, stoop, squat or kneel throughout an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift, as needed. Ability to repetitively retrieve fill yarn packages from fill yarn truck/box and place on fill yarn tree at each loom.
MENTAL ABILITIES:
Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities. Ability to read forms, charts and documents. Ability to enter data in computer system. Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations. Ability to count inventory and maintain stock levels.
OTHER:
Fingering - Ability to demonstrate good tactile discrimination and functional sensation.
Medium motor manipulation - Ability to crank landing gears in slow/fast. Ability to use upper extremities for a variety of medium motor tasks throughout the day, predominantly with a horizontal reach.
Fine motor coordination - Ability to enter data in the computer system. Latch fill yarn trucks together. Manipulating levers and controls. Pushing buttons.
Grip - Ability to grip hand held tools. Ability to perform both a one handed and two-handed grip.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Must wear hearing protection, safety shoes and safety glasses with permanent side shields when in the warehouse and production areas. Must adhere to plant clothing and footwear policy. Wear personal protective equipment as required by task at hand.

Powered industrial pole/fork truck, road tractor/trailer, computer, printer, spotlight, wire tie twister, tube, miter / core saw, trailer tire chocks, bar code reader, copier/fax machine, broom, utility knife, t-wrench, wrenches, air hose, scissors, fill yarn truck, chaps, tubes, RF computer, strapper, clippers, stapler, and ratchet with allen socket.
MATERIALS USED:
Printer ribbon, paper, forms, end disc, seals, wire tie, pen/pencil, rags, propane, strapping, clipboard and tape.
