Material Coordinator - Patient Care

Coordinates daily acquisition, receiving and distribution of material resources for unit/service. Participates in planning and implementing cost effective changes in material systems through inventory management and alternative purchasing.

The Material Coordinator establishes and maintains a stock inventory of all supplies for unit/service, using a hand held computer and submits data to the CPD/or performs manual inventory count. The position generates system restock orders for all inventory sites and processes all supply and equipment requisitions. He/she interfaces with vendors, problem solving and researching unit/service specific products. Supplies are received and entered into the inventory system, while coordinating the acquisition and receipt of all non-stock supplies. The Material Coordinator acts as unit/service liaison in value analysis process, as well as a resource for staff, sharing useful and cost-effective ideas and materials information. He/she orders instruments, maintaining an inventory and tracking any lost or missing items, demonstrating competency in selected psychomotor skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Interfaces with vendors, problem solving and researching unit/service specific products.

Supplies are received and entered into the inventory system, while coordinating the acquisition and receipt of all non-stock supplies.

Acts as unit/service liaison in value analysis process, as well as a resource for staff, sharing useful and cost-effective ideas and materials information.

Orders instruments, maintaining an inventory and tracking any lost or missing items, demonstrating competency in selected psychomotor skills.

Delegates supply put-away functions and stock rotation as needed.

Organizes stocked storage areas, returning items for credit, rotating supplies and updating shelving labels.

Participates in the budget process and achieves targets set for supply budgets.

Cross-checks quality, quantity, accuracy and completeness of work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must hold a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

2 to 3 years of experience in a support position, inventory control preferred. Basic business and computer skills are needed, as well as demonstrated planning, interpersonal and communications skills.
