PURPOSE:       

The Forklift Operator is a middle level position that is responsible for acting in a

safe manner while operating forklifts for production purposes. Position requires

continuous on and off of forklift.

 

BERRY GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Follow all Berry safety and environmental policies and proceduresFollow OSHA rules and regulationsMonitor quality of product; inspects bottles for defects, inspects boxes for damage and properly follows customer pack patternsCommunicates and cooperates with other employees in a positive and constructive manner to achieve the Goals of the Department and the PlantAdhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines; wear protective clothing, long-sleeved shirt, jeans or slacks, hair net, latex gloves and practices good hygiene Willing and able to work overtime when neededIdentify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnelEffectively respond in an Emergency Situation such as Fire, and Accident and direct the activities of othersFollow all Department Procedures and Directives

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsible for movement of all materials to and from the production departmentSafe and effective operation of forklifts, clamp trucks and pallet jacksResponsible for daily pre-shift forklift checks, including battery changesInspect for properly packaged product for shipment to our customersMust obtain/maintain fork truck certificationConsistently lift boxes that weigh up to 35lbs.Properly and completely fill out labels and paperworkVerify correct weights and countsConstruct cardboard boxes from collapsed cartonsWilling and able to work overtime when neededMust relieve packers for all breaks Other duties as assigned Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must be able to pass a background check and drug testOne year of forklift experience or six months as a full-time Berry Inspector/PackerMust be able to monitor quality of machine output Capable of lifting (up to 35 pounds)Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms Must be able to perform all duties in a safe and effective manner.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Manufacturing experienceHigh school diploma/GED or equivalent.
