Material Handler

Description

Job Summary:

Accurately and Safely distribute material internal and external to the facility in an efficient and expeditious manner. Must be proficient at 80% of material Handler I skills demonstrating a clear ability to grasp 5S philosophy and work within multiple disciplines. Ability to follow written and verbal direction and communicate effectively with team members both orally and written.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Forklift Certification, Valid Driver License, and the use of Power tools are not required for all Material Handlers. Percentage of time at each task fluctuates with workload. Cross training and fluid transition between departments is essential for competitive advantage. Material handler I must be proficient with all level 1 tasks within 90 days of date of hire. Many tasks require On the Job Training. Four codes relate to unique skill sets and Material Handler II work under Material Handler III guidance as required in each function.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•\tMust be proficient able to perform responsibilities and duties of Material handler I

•\tBasic understanding of Excel files (enter data in preset forms and save properly)

•\tMaintain and store files effectively

•\tCreate new locations in ERP system

•\tProcess and print barcode labels

•\tMaintain Data in KPI

•\tFill out complex forms in ERP system such as NCM

•\tUse various tools to research inventory discrepancies

•\tUse problem solving skills to find lost inventory

•\tReorganize inventory storage for maximum fit and distribution

•\tUse Carrier related software and prepare BOL

•\tUse Hand Trucks, Pallet Jacks, and Scales safely and effectively

•\tRepetitive motion of twisting and bending

Educational/Certification Requirement:

•\tHigh School Diploma (or G.E.D.)

•\tForklift Certification as Required

•\tValid Driver’s License as Required

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

•\t2+ year experience related to the use of computer and ERP systems bar-coded software is highly desired. Two years’ experience in any type of material distribution environment is desired.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00
