Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description

The Material Handler handles aluminum extrusions and other inventory used in commercial buildings. Individuals in this material handling position work as part of a team to ensure material is received, stored, picked, packed, and shipped to clients accurately per schedule. They will grab material out of semi-trucks/loading trucks, with a lot of product movement involving a forklift. Once on the racks, they will move the material to different locations depending on the work order. They will handle around 100 work orders a day as a team.

ResponsibilitiesReceive, store, pick, pack, and ship materials accurately per schedule.Operate forklifts to move materials.Move materials to different locations based on work orders.Perform basic math, reading, and computer tasks.Communicate effectively with team members.Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs, from the ground and above your head.Stand and be on your feet for 8-12 hours.Work in a fast-paced environment.Manage time effectively.Use scanners and barcoding devices as required.Contribute to a safe and enjoyable work environment.Maintain excellent attendance and performance records.Work independently or as part of a team.Work quickly and accurately.Determine appropriate racks for materials based on work orders.Essential SkillsBasic math, reading, and computer skills.Effective communication skills.Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.Strong time management skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Excellent attendance and performance records.Ability to work independently or as part of a team.Capability to work quickly and accurately.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with scanners and barcoding devices.Forklift training will be provided.PPE (Safety glasses, protective gloves, safety shoes, single-use ear plugs).Why Work Here?

This position offers opportunities for growth from Tier 1 to Tier 3, with potential pay raises up to $2.00. Employees receive reviews at 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years to assess eligibility for pay increases. Additionally, there is a $2.00 shift premium for the 2nd shift.

Work Environment

The associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring hearing protection. The facility is very clean but not air-conditioned, though it has great air control with fans and open doors and windows. The work station is about 30 feet from the receiving area, requiring some walking and pushing loaded carts up to 30 feet. Materials can be 100-200 inches long before being cut, and assistance is provided for lifting materials over 40 lbs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.25 - $20.25
