Material Handler
**Material Handler - Sorrento Valley - $18/hr** **Job Description** The Material Handler is responsible for performing the physical tasks involved in the receiving, staging, returning, shipping, storage, destruction, and inventory management of products, materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. This role includes unpacking and checking material received against purchase orders or invoices, maintaining records of received material, and rejecting unsatisfactory items according to procedural requirements. Additionally, the Material Handler picks and stages material for production work orders, packs material for shipments, performs cycle counts, item verification, consolidation, and transfer of material, and adheres to good documentation practices defined by PCI. **Responsibilities** + Receive, stage, return, ship, store, destroy, and manage inventory of products, materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. + Unpack and check material received against purchase orders or invoices. + Maintain records of received material and reject unsatisfactory items. + Pick and stage material for production work orders. + Pack material for shipments. + Perform cycle counts, item verification, consolidation, and transfer of material. + Adhere to good documentation practices defined by PCI. **Essential Skills** + Experience with pallet jacks. + Proficiency in inventory management and shipping & receiving. + Experience working with ERP systems. + Ability to work independently and as a self-starter. + Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Excel and Smart Sheets. + Experience with forklift operation and RF scanners. + Skills in packaging, loading, material handling, inventory control, and stocking. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Previous experience working in a cold room environment is a plus. + Good documentation practices (GDP) knowledge. + Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs. and up to 40 lbs. independently. **Why Work Here?** Our company offers significant opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization. Overtime is voluntary, typically an hour during the week, and may include some Saturday work. The work environment includes cold rooms at -20 degrees, large freezers, and a large refrigerator room. Employees will handle shipments from the cooler and must be comfortable working in these conditions. Appropriate attire, such as jackets, is provided, and employees can step out of the cold environment as needed. The minimum lifting requirement is 20 lbs., with a maximum of 40 lbs. independently. The company has recently opened a new 106,000 square feet warehouse facility in Otay Mesa, and there may be potential future work transfers to this location. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
