Material Handler

Job Purpose
To ensure efficient material flow and maintain a clean, safe work environment in the Machine Shop and Assembly areas, supporting production operations and adhering to Health & Safety standards.

​Main Duties

You will maintain a clean and organised workspace by performing tasks such as sweeping, emptying bins, cleaning machinery, and ensuring all equipment and materials are properly stored.

Material Flow Management: Transporting components between Machine Shop, Assembly, and Fabrication areas to maintain production schedules.Area Maintenance: Sweeping Assembly and Metal Finishing areas (including under mats/benches weekly); emptying black bins and compacting waste.Machinery & Safety Compliance: Ensuring drills/fixed machinery are swarf-free daily; returning slings/chains to racks post-shift; emptying scrap bins and removing broken pallets/scrap wood promptly.Logistics Support: Loading/unloading vehicles; retaining paperwork during transport; maintaining spill kits and ensuring safe component storage.Housekeeping: Keeping scrap compounds and surrounding areas tidy; cleaning customer equipment pre-dispatch if required.Health & Safety: Adhering to forklift, crane/slinging, manual handling, and COSHH procedures; reporting irregularities to management.Flexibility: Covering other Manufacturing areas during absences and performing additional tasks if qualified.

Candidate Profile

Ability to conduct daily manual handling tasks.Basic understanding of production workflows and material movement processes.Proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and efficiency with limited supervision.Strong initiation and self-motivation to complete tasks and ensure a safe running environment.High desirable criteria includes a Forklift truck and crane/sling operation qualification/license (training available if unqualified).Proven experience within a similar position or transferable skills
