What You’ll Do

As a Material Handler, you’ll be part of our manufacturing team located in Decorah, IA. You’ll get to: 

Receive and move raw materials timely and accurately to ensure availability, traceability and inventory accuracy.

Accurate and timely movement of products to appropriate building and staging areas, ensuring availability and maintaining traceability.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

RAW MATERIAL RECEIVING

1.  Unloads raw materials from trucks.

2.  Verifies accuracy of packing lists to material received and process receipt.

3.  Visually inspect for damage and rust noting all discrepancies.

4.  Unwraps coils and stages to appropriate storage area.

DELIVERY TO / FROM HEADERS

1.  Responds promptly to all calls for raw material needs of headers, ensuring the required grade, size, type and heat are scanned to headers.

Re-weighs and returns all partially consumed coils of material to storage, ensuring correct information is updated in the system.

REJECTIONS OF MATERIAL

1.  Remove all reject/complaint coils of material from headers ensuring that coils and paperwork   are processed through the system.

2.  Maintain the reject staging area ensuring containment of rejected coils.

RETURNS

Prepare coils of material ensuring proper identification, banding and paperwork procedures are followed.

CYCLE COUNTS

Perform cycle count/verification of inventory as requested, reporting all counts.

STAGING

Timely movement of product from one building location to another to ensure product is available for the appropriate process or in the correct staging area. Ensures the work-in-process stock areas are well organized.

SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING

1.  Follows all company safety procedures and reports any unsafe hazard or violation to   Supervisor.

2.  Ensures work areas are neat and orderly.

TEAMWORK

1.  Accepts job assignments and assists co-workers as needed.

2.  Attends team meetings and actively participates and follows team guidelines.

3.  Works cooperatively to meet Operation’s and team objectives.

4.  Ensures Supervisor and co-workers are adequately informed of current situations.

POLICY COMPLIANCE

Compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or leadperson.

Record date for SPC and IATF16949 documentation.

Must be available to work overtime as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.           

Demonstrated ability / knowledge of basic math, accuracy with numbers.

Ability to drive a fork truck/obtain license.

Self-motivated.

Ability to use JDE, ERP system.

Knowledge of IATF16949 and ISO14001 requirements.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with company parts/processes.

Familiarity with raw materials.

Computer knowledge and basic computer skills.

Previous JDE experience.
