Welcome to the role of Material Handler - Fabrication & Machining. In this position, you will be responsible for receiving, placing, and managing the flow of materials into and out of the Fabrication and Machine Department. This includes unloading incoming shipments and verifying material against purchase orders or other means, loading outbound shipments per loading lists, and verifying that the loaded material matches the shipping list. This position will coordinate with Production Management and Supervisors to ensure materials and inventory are supplied to the individual workstations for additional processing as required and then placed into the “ready for production” area to maintain workflow.
This individual will have excellent organizational skills, environmental awareness, and a thorough understanding of all aspects of moving material in a safe manner with motorized equipment and overhead cranes. This position must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.
What You'll Do Facilitate efficient and timely workflows by moving materials to and from the processing areas, point of operation, blasting area, painting area, the queue areas for completed materials, etc.Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks and checking in merchandisePrepare orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery areaOrganize and maintain storage and work areas for ease of access and identification of products by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat and safeCommunicate with shop supervisors on needs in various areas of the shop to include material staging, consumables, and equipmentComplete and manage all required and relevant paperwork related to incoming materials, outgoing materials, and stocked materialsUnload incoming material deliveries to include verifying load ticket and physical material versus the purchase orderEnsure all material is marked with P.O. number and job number (if applicable), this includes transferring marks on bundled material Ensure all load tickets are forwarded to the proper personnelEnsure all items to be shipped are easily identified and communicate with the shop foreman to remedy any issuesResponsible for ensuring signed shipping tickets are returned, scanned, and stored in the job folderMaintain an inventory list for the easy identification of stock material and assist in counting of physical inventoryPrepare parcels for mailing and/or shippingWorking Conditions
