Material Handler I
Johnson Service Group is seeking a Material Handler I for a 12-month assignment.
The Material Handler will report to the Logistics Supervisor and will be responsible for preparing records of receipt of incoming material and equipment, will properly label received items and items being shipped.  The Material Handler will move materials, supplies, and finished goods to designated areas within the company facility; pulling orders accurately in preparation for prompt shipments and will prepare records, packing slips, and bills of lading for outbound material and equipment. 

This role could report to 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

Responsibilities: Read and understand work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs. Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy. Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials. Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.  Record shipment data, such as weigh, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Deliver or route materials using hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins. Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. Operate fork-lift truck, stand up lift, or hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area Data entry Perform other assigned production-related tasks or special project assignments. Support Corporate Programs such as 5S, ISO, SMED, Preventive Maintenance, Sustainability, and GMP. Other tasks as assigned


Required Knowledge and Skills: Ability to read, understand, and follow schedule, written instructions, and job ticket requirements. Ability to prioritize workload in order to meet customer deadlines, taking note of schedule changes timely. Ability to work both independently and with limited supervision. Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude. Job requires being careful about detail and being thorough in completing work tasks. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials
Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma / GED Six (6) Months of experience in Shipping/Receiving or Materials Management Six (6) Months of heavy sit-down forklift experience Basic Computer/Data Entry Skills
Preferred Qualifications: APICS Certification 2 (two) years Forklift Experience 2 (two) years of experience in Shipping/Receiving or Materials Management Stand-Up Forklift Experience highly preferred
Work Conditions: Manufacturing environment with noise levels commonly requiring hearing protection. Industrial Chemical Exposure. Stand, sit, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Lifting requirements: Minimum 10lbs Maximum 50lbs (Anything over 50lbs requires team lift) 25 pounds – 35 pounds repetitively. Move rolls of Plastic/Board/Foil/Liner/Label Stock – 400 pounds – 1000 pounds (rolling material on their diameter). Move skids weighing up to 2,500 pounds with the use of mechanical or powered Pallet Jack. Wearing of Personnel Protective Equipment required, such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, Hard Hats or other PPE dependent on job duties.
