  The Position Proposition:                                                                                                                                                                     

The Material Manager is responsible for managing the supply chain and inventory processes to ensure that all materials and supplies are available to meet production and operational requirements. This role involves planning, sourcing, purchasing, storing, and distributing materials efficiently while maintaining cost control and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Planning and Inventory Management: Develop and implement strategies for material procurement, storage, and distribution. Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock to meet production needs while minimizing excess. Forecast material requirements based on production schedules and historical data. Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable delivery and quality. Resolve any issues related to suppliers, including quality concerns and delivery delays. Procurement: Oversee the purchasing of materials, equipment, and supplies in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Review purchase orders and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints. Track and report on material costs and savings initiatives. Logistics and Distribution: Coordinate the receipt, handling, and storage of materials to prevent damage or loss. Ensure efficient distribution of materials to various departments or production lines. Optimize yard layout and inventory management practices. Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control procedures for incoming and outgoing materials. Work with quality assurance teams to address any material defects or issues. Team Management:
Supervise and mentor material management staff, providing training and guidance as needed. Conduct performance evaluations and address any personnel issues. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with Duke and TECO material management Maintain accurate records and documentation related to material transactions, inventory levels, and supplier agreements.       Educational & Minimum Requirements:                                                                                                                                          

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Material Manager or in a similar role within a manufacturing or production environment. Strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and procurement processes. Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move materials as required. Willingness to work in various environments, including warehouses and outside yard areas.

Working Conditions:

Standard office environment with occasional exposure to warehouse or production environments.
