Materials Planning Supervisor

The Materials Planning Supervisor leads a team of Material Planners, with the responsibility of planning and scheduling the delivery of material from suppliers. This team is responsible to monitor the flows of buy items, guarantee availability of components in order to avoid material shortages and production downtime, as well as to manage inventory levels to meet our customer service and inventory targets.

What You Will Do:                                       

Manages purchasing/material planning activity to ensure timely delivery of material to support production operationsServe as an escalation point with buyer/planners to resolve issues effectively and in a timely mannerManages changes in supply chain requirements (including supplier transitions/product modifications)Ensure that Purchasing/Planning Team is trained and effectively utilizing ERP toolsEnsure that Purchasing/Planning Team is utilizing Allegion Standard Work and Material PlaybookEnsure optimal inventory levels & safety-stock calculations are utilizedMaintain proactive shortage identification and management - help flag root causes & corrective actionsExpedite deliveries to meet and exceed scheduled critical requirements.Maintain material plan at the time fence to ensure continuity of supply.Interface with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements.Communicate forecasts and replenishment plans to supplierMaintain and continuously evaluate supplier performance and escalate when issues occurChampion Lean for Purchasing/Materials Planning functionsDrive working capital reduction efforts including disposition of slow moving and obsolete inventory and changes to timing of purchase order receipts to minimize exposure as necessary.Identify gaps and drive solutions, including metrics on supplier performancePlan for the development of the staff by organizing training sessionsParticipate in projects related to new or revised material launches at facilityIn-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution).Lead purchasing related activities as they relate to implementation of new ERP system.Must be focused on bottom line results and be a proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies.Must be a flexible, decisive and proactive problem solver and able to work well in high pressure, fast-paced environment.Must be a strong communicator and able to influence external suppliers to achieve fulfillment objectives.Must possess a strong customer service orientation and must provide dedicated support of internal customer requirements.Must possess strong organizational skills, with ability to work on multiple priorities at once and be proficient at conflict resolution.

What You Need to Succeed:

Bachelor's Degree preferred3-5 years+ planner/buyer experience1-3 years+ previous supervisory experienceExperience using MRP/ERP systemsSkilled in supplier scheduling including new product introductions.Able to provide direction and training to peers as needed.Computer proficient with ERP and Microsoft Office toolsExperience in inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes.APICS CPIM preferred
