The Scotch Governance Team is comprised of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality, Risk & Assurance functions, and our mission is to lead Scotch Governance with integrity; partnering growth and delivering world class reputation. Shieldhall packages a huge volume of Scotch malt whiskies, white spirits and ready to drink brands to supply over 170 countries around the world and is a key manufacturing site within the Scotch supply category.

About the Role

As the Material Quality Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our dedication to excellence. Reporting to the Scotch Category Governance Manager and being an integral part of both the Quality and wider Governance teams, you'll have the chance to have a significant impact on our operations. You will lead a team of 4 quality professionals.

Your responsibilities will span various areas, including but not limited to material quality, product quality, food safety, and compliance with ISO and Global Risk Management Standards (GRMS).You'll primarily be a key player in supporting quality excellence of our finished product, protecting both our Brands and Diageo Reputation by ensuring that the materials that make up our Brands meet specification, are compliant and continually improve. From glass to closures and labels to cases, you will work closely with our production teams and our key suppliers and partners to deliver right first-time materials to our production lines.You'll drive our quality agenda on site to ensure improved site performance against all Quality metrics and deliver site strategy goals. Your efforts will contribute to fostering a positive quality culture, promoting a "right first time" approach through employee engagement, awareness, assessment, and training.

Your role will extend beyond our Shieldhall site, as you collaborate with the broader Diageo Governance community and participate in the Global Quality Forum.

About You

We are looking for a quality manager with direct experience of managing the quality of incoming components that make up  finished product, with a background in team leadership ideally within the food and drinks, packaging industry or other fast-paced manufacturing / production environment.


You will excel as a leader, possessing strong communication skills, possess an ability to work under pressure and to work to tight timescales. You will have proactive structured problem-solving skills learnt through exposure to DMAIC, Lean, Six Sigma, TPM and Manufacturing Excellence.
