Materials Sourcing Specialist San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), a San Antonio, Texas based privately held company, has been in business for over 40 years and has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear. Position: SAS has an opening for a Materials Sourcing Specialist. Job Responsibilities: + Source seasonal and year round materials as defined by the Design and Development Department. + Develop a working technical knowledge of the materials to be sourced. + Maintain and review records of items developed, costs, deliveries, and product performance. + Collaborate with Design and Development and Quality Assurance teams in evaluation of sourced material (color, aesthetic, technical and functional testing). + Diversify raw material supplier base. + Negotiate price with domestic and overseas suppliers based on market fluctuations and quantities. + Function as a liaison between design, manufacturing, purchasing, and scheduling teams. + Fulfil material requisitions as assigned + Contact preparers of requisitions to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data. + Makes necessary corrections in the system to maintain data integrity. + Filing, data entry, and organizing on a daily basis. + Travel to material shows with the Design team, both domestically and overseas to find innovative materials and new vendors. + In addition, other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: + Able to adapt to new technologies and techniques to increase productivity and keep technical skills up to date. + Skilled at identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner. + Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations. + Excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers. + Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Education & Experience Requirements: + Five years sourcing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus. + Computer proficient in Microsoft- Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Advanced Excel skills required. + Position involves some travel within and outside the U.S and requires physical ability to travel globally on commercial transportation. Physical Requirements: + Physical labor is often necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including sitting, standing and walking. + Work will be conducted in a climate controlled office environment. + Ability to input data (typing) into a computer for long periods of time. + Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
