Your Impactful Role
The Materials Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Materials Manager with the day-to-day activities of materials management. Functions include placing orders in a timely manner to ensure adequate supplies are available, conducting inventory control, and identifying and reporting backorders to nurse evaluating schedule needs, receiving supplies, and managing costs within the Center. Understands safety hazards and the use of equipment to prevent damage or harm to personnel and patients. He/she is aware of Center contracts regarding supplies and equipment. Orders and maintains supplies, medications, equipment, and specialty surgeon requests for the Center. Maintains appropriate par level and anticipates supplies needed per surgery schedule.Displays a “customer service” attitude toward vendors, physicians, and other staff members. Reconciles invoices and PO’s of inventory.Maintains a system of returns for equipment in need of repair. Coordinates quarterly inventory and completes data entry. Ensures compliance with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) agreements. Works with vendors to obtain quotes for new instrumentation and equipment as requested. Updates pricing in inventory supply software. Maintains a clean storage environment using continued alertness to safety/storage requirements of equipment and supplies.Appropriately handles the disposal of biohazardous materials.Understands and performs the proper technique of equipment in the work area.Adheres to POSC procedures, policies, and standards.Assists with Special Assignments as directed Responsible for training new employees.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent required. Excellent computer skills and strong attention to detail. Able to take directions and follow instructions. Experience with Excel at plus. Physical Demands and Work Conditions: In this role, you'll experience the rigorous yet rewarding physical demands of the job. You can expect to stand, walk, talk, and hear during your shifts. There may be occasions when you're on your feet for extended periods, involving tasks such as pushing, pulling, or moving patients on stretchers. Your work environment may expose you to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. You'll need to move all extremities within the full range of motion and perform stooping and bending at 90 degrees. Regularly, you'll lift and move objects up to 20 pounds and possess specific vision abilities, including close vision. The surgical arena features a moderate noise level, creating a professional and supportive atmosphere dedicated to patient care and your professional development.
