Location Description The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility is 1,120,845 square feet and home to about 470 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits® and 9Lives®. This location has a cannery that produces wet dog food and there is also a Distribution Center on-site. Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, a landmark Town Park with many acres of recreational activities, and has one of the largest and longest running fairs in the country. With so much to do and see, Bloomsburg is a great place to live, work and play! Responsibilities Responsible for all purchasing activities within the plant, to support plant operations. Ensure inventory levels, adjusting minimum/maximum reorder levels, ordering, organization, and control of all material stocked in the facility. Serve as the liaison between the company and vendors/suppliers. In this role you will: Serve as leader of ordering direct ingredients Investigate and help eliminate variances Manage bulk tanks and silos to deliver JIT Execute monthly cycle counts Plan and coordinate the replenishment and receiving of materials Ownership of managing shelf life and FIFO of ingredients Manage and minimize obsolete ingredients Support new product initiatives Work with receiving department on any receipt variances Schedule inbound ingredient appointment Display effective communication with all customers including plant personnel, teams, and vendors Ensure compliance with all Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory requirements as it relates to ingredients used for production equipment Support safety programs, policies, and procedures Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent Experience At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required Previous experience in purchasing, inventory, cycle counts, and budgeting Previous experience managing in a union environment preferred Skills & Abilities: Strong organization skills with a demonstrated ability to be decisive, proactive, and strategic in decision making Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities against a given set of criteria and effectively manage the work to completion Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook Ability to prioritize, lead, initiate, and plan in areas in order to improve results Strong customer-service orientation and collaboration with others, including external resources Basic knowledge of the flow of product in the plant In-depth knowledge of daily and monthly reconciliation Ability to work flexible hours and some weekends is required
