Materials Engineer

As a Materials Engineer you would provide knowledge and expertise and execute tasks on the development of materials, processes, models and analysis methods, the application of materials to the design, test, manufacture, and service operation of systems, the approval, validation and control of raw materials and / or component manufacturing processes, and the execution of failure or defect investigations. To provide knowledge, expertise and guidance in chemistry and/or corrosion disciplines deployed in the support of the full product life-cycle.

Key Accountabilities

Manage and deliver complex materials development programs through the gated review processes.Effectively engage with engineers from all disciplines to understand material development requirementsScope, develop and manage test programs to demonstrate and validate a wide variety of material propertiesManage materials development programs to meet cost, quality and delivery commitmentsAnalyze and interpret data from material property testing A key contributor to development and validation of materials and components for LibertyWorks R&T programs.


 

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's in Materials or Chemistry with two years of experience; ORMaster's or PhD in Materials or ChemistryMust be a US Citizen and be eligible to obtain DoD clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of polymer matrix composites, ceramic matrix composites and ceramic coatingsKnowledge of sol-gel based processesExperience with developing or using process models for chemical processesAbility to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking to a range of technical problemsPractical knowledge and use of advanced analytical techniquesUnderstanding and use of manufacturing techniques for polymer matrix composites, ceramic matrix composites and ceramic coatings would also be beneficial.
