We are hiring a Summer 2025 Materials Engineer Intern, Server Design to join our team in Morrisville, NC. This role will focus on aiding materials engineers in the areas of server development, manufacturing, and field support. Areas of interest include metallic, polymeric, and printed circuit board materials as well as immersion cooling. The successful candidate will assist in attacking unique challenges in server design and development to meet the ever-increasing demand for faster, smaller, and more energy-efficient servers.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the development of direct water cooling (DWC) and two-phase cooling systems. Utilize analytical equipment for materials analysis and testing (optical microscopes, scanning electron microscope (SEM), mechanical (Instron), infrared spectroscopy). Collaborate across engineering disciplines such as power engineering, electromagnetic compatibility engineering, and interconnect engineering to provide materials-related support. Interact with suppliers as to ensure quality and reliability standards are met. Prepare analytical reports and effectively communicate results to internal stakeholders and external customers.

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science or related field. Solid background (such as coursework, undergraduate research, or prior internship) in chemistry and polymers. Experience with instruments such as optical microscopes, SEMs, and IR a plus. Ability to work in a lab environment onsite at the Morrisville, NC location. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong verbal and written communication skills.
