Position Summary\n

The Materials Estimator is responsible for plant level costing and control related to the materials of a home build, bill of material audits, cost analysis, New Base and Option pricing and ECO's (Engineering Change Orders).\n

Responsibilities:\n\nAnalyze, audit and review drawings and specifications as related to costing of materials\nPrepare detailed build of material cost estimates for our modular construction projects, including material, labor, and equipment, etc. \nPresent completed estimates to related departments in an organized, detailed and clear manner;\nWork with related departments as related to the costing component of the build;\nAssist and provide input into design of builds as related to costing.\nReview and interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine the Bills of Materials (BOM) are accurate and up to date.\nReview BOM's (build of materials) to ensure they reflect the latest manufacturing practices.\nAnalyze actual labor, material, and overhead cost against Standard\/Budget. Research and explain variances. Report this information monthly or as needed.\nWork within the various departments related to the costing and building of homes.\nDetermine pricing and report it.\nMaintain and update existing estimating processes.\nManage\/prepare\/track ECO's (Engineering change orders)\nAdditional responsibilities per management.\n\n

Qualifications\n\nStrong knowledge of construction materials and methods\nBasic experience with costing and exposure to manufacturing departments\nProven work experience in construction\nStrong computer skills\nExcellent mathematical skills with attention to detail\nPractical experience with accounting software (insert our systems) an asset \nAble to quickly learn and adapt to new software and processes\nEffective written and verbal communication skills\nWorks well in a team environment and with upper management\nHigh level of critical thinking and logical analysis\n\n\nGood organizational and time management skills\nAble to work well under pressure and meet all deadlines\nAlways keeps the highest standards of compliance and confidentiality\n
