Job Scope

The Materials Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing raw materials, tools, equipment, supplies, and products following established procedures and guidelines.  Performs minor maintenance on equipment.

Responsibilities

Unload product from delivery trucks, organize, and store it for production use.Receive and deliver shipments from vendors.Count and inspect incoming materials to verify accurate delivery.Prepare material for production jobs using necessary equipment such as a band saw.Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.Issue and deliver materials to work cells & work stations in accordance with production schedule requirements.Prepare raw materials for shipment to outside production vendors.Accurately perform weekly raw material inventory count.Perform periodic preventive maintenance on band saw, forklift, or other shop floor equipment as needed.Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous process improvement activities.Follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and observe safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.Must be able to read, write, and understand English sufficiently to read and following written instructions.Comprehensively utilize computer-based programs to complete necessary documentation.Demonstrated ability to use inspection measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.Intermediate level computer knowledge required.Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Prior experience using of Bar Code and material planning software, such as SAP, strongly preferred.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Familiarity with cycle counting preferred.Experience working with SAP preferred.Must be detail oriented; able to consistently perform accurate counting.Forklift experience preferred; ability to obtain a forklift license required.
