About the Position: This position is with U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, at Fort Drum, NY. This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 Months position. Please see "Additional Information" section below for further details. Responsibilities Perform a variety of warehousing duties. Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials to facilitate movement of materials according to priorities and space allocations. Operate electric, gasoline, or diesel powered forklift trucks in order to lift loads. Perform operator level maintenance checks on fuel systems as required. Participate in inventories by counting types and quantities of items. Complete temperature and quantity verification. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator/Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common warehousing duties. I can receive supply, store supply, move supply to proper lot, verify accuracy of supply, and report discrepancies. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Stands, stoops, bends, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for prolonged periods. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 50 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing over 50 pounds with assistance. Moderate physical effort is used in operating fork lift and motor vehicle hand and foot controls. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly light areas. May work on open docks or in storage areas or yards. Work may be dirty, dusty, and/or greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises; falls from ladders; or injury from material handling or fork lift equipment. May be required to wear protective clothing such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, etc. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
