Responsibilities Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and carts, either gasoline or electrically powered, on a daily basis while receiving incoming shipments or items. Assembles items, grouping material according to receiving vouchers and, as necessary, into sub-groups based on property class, condition, and type of transaction. As required, route items for processing or holds for required inspections. Route items not requiring inspection to proper storage area or designation, and items to be reshipped, repacked, or crated. Signs shipping and receiving reports. Reports overages, shortages, or damaged items to supervisor or other responsible person according to established procedures. Assist in determining the reasons for overages, shortages, or misplaced items. Selects and sets up proper storage areas for materials within the general warehouse plan considering size, shape, quantity, use, and possibility of damage, deterioration, and contamination to or from other items. Stores, stacks, and palletizes without instructions on methods or procedures to use. Selects and assembles items for shipment or issue. Assembles items for shipping according to information on receiving vouchers. Checks condition of shipping containers prior to loading and ensure shipments are loaded into proper conveyances. Checks stock identification change lists to ensure the selection and assembly of proper items for issue. Coordinates property turn-in dates with DOL warehouse and/or DRMO, and ensures the loading and delivery of such property. Assists in preparation and submission of DCA supply requisitions. Maintains running record of inventory balance. Conducts warehouse inventories and maintains tally listings during the count. Often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. The incumbent may work inside areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. The incumbent may work in bad weather in such outside areas as open docks and storage yards. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Demonstrated ability and knowledge directly related to the duties to be performed as identified above. Ability to do the work of the position withoutmore than normal supervision, and the ability to interpret instructions and specifications. Position requires the incumbent to possess a valid Driver's License, and the ability to obtain a Government License.
