Materials Handler - Mover
Description We are seeking a Materials Handler I/II (Mover) to support the relocation of staff and laboratory equipment, arrange conference rooms, and pick up and deliver furniture and equipment throughout the Laboratory. Supports the relocation of Laboratory personnel and equipment using dollies, hand trucks, desk jacks, vans, forklifts, and high cube truck vehicles. Moves office furniture, laboratory equipment, safes, packages of all types. Operates Laboratory vehicles and equipment such as vans, box trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, manual and power tools. Inspects and maintain equipment and vehicles ' to be in good safe operating condition. Assists in other areas of the FMT group as necessary Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... High school diploma or equivalent, read, write and speak English fluently. 2+ years of commercial move and/or hands-on material handling experience. 1+ years of forklift experience and ability to obtain an APL forklift certification. Requires valid state-of-residence driver’s license in good standing. Ability to obtain or possess valid DOT medical card. Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and walk extensively. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to adapt to an ever changing environment based on customers ' needs. Maintain good attendance and punctuality. Experience using both hand tools and power tools (especially cordless drill). Are able to obtain Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Special Working Conditions: Safety shoes required. Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. Routinely drive APL vehicles and equipment both on and off-site. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
