This position will assist in developing, implementing and managing inventory accuracy improvement initiatives including analyzing inventory levels, establishing trends, making recommendations and fostering solutions. Working across departments throughout the business, this position will also analyze operational & logistic performance to drive impactful business improvements. At BWXT, our interns perform challenging tasks in their field of study while developing and delivering unique solutions for use in a nuclear environment. Our interns work collaboratively as part of our manufacturing and operational teams and will tackle various projects and tasks relating directly to fabrication and engineering challenges. Interns will be exposed to various parts of the manufacturing process that may include process and procedure creation/revisions, assisting with product and/or tooling improvements, perform testing and analysis, and assist with engineering and shop operations personnel on a daily basis. A BWXT internship not only provides valuable on the job training but allows you to be a part of something bigger! BWXT offers paid internships along with a housing stipend for those interns whose home of record is more than 50 miles from Barberton, OH. Internships will last approximately 10-12 weeks. At the end of the internship, each intern has the opportunity to present their completed work/ assigned projects to the leadership team. **General Profile** + Execute projects to facilitate significant improvement to core business metrics. + Interface with many internal and customer contacts on projects, working both collaboratively and independently on solutions. + Assist in creation of changing and more efficient warehousing layouts + Implement 5S, Poke Yoke and lean Initiatives + Supporting with Inventory and Logistic projects to promote manufacturing excellence + Work constructively with professional employees and/or supervisors/superintendents **Essential Functions** + Assist in inventory accuracy and validity project to improve manufacturing excellence + Analyze logistic capabilities and trends to maximize efficiency and cost savings + Leveraging existing data streams, reporting and dashboards, identify opportunities to improve the company’s understanding of business functions and develop tools to improve decision making at all levels of the operations department **Minimum Job Requirements** + Enrolled full time in an accredited university/college with a degree or concentration in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management or a similar field + Proficient in fundamental computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) + Strong technical problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills + Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills + Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship + Experience in inventory management and logistics is preferred but not required + Prior internship experience is preferred but not required As a federal government contractor, BWX Technologies, Inc. and any subsidiaries, affiliates and related entities (“BWXT” or the “Company”) complies with all federal, state, and local laws and customer requirements regarding COVID-19 and other health and safety protocols.
